Best Buy extends Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Alienware deals past Prime Day 2026

Best Buy has extended its own sale beyond Amazon Prime Day 2026. Discounts on game consoles, laptops and peripherals run through the end of Sunday.

What's in the sale

The retailer covers several key categories. The focus is on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Alienware gaming laptops from Dell and the Lenovo Legion line. It's a classic summer-sale mix: popular consoles plus expensive laptops, where the percentage discount has the biggest psychological pull.

Main items in the Best Buy sale:

• Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, in game bundles and on their own
• Sony PlayStation 5: base kits, bundles and special editions
• Alienware x14, x16 and m18: top-end gaming laptops with Intel and AMD chips
• Lenovo Legion 5 and Legion 7: mid-range and high-end laptops
• Accessories: DualSense controllers, Pro controllers for Switch, SSDs, headsets

The sale started in parallel with Amazon Prime Day 2026 and continues after it ends. That's deliberate: while Amazon closes its sale, Best Buy keeps generating traffic and holding shoppers on its own pages.

How Best Buy competes with Amazon

Amazon Prime Day has become the biggest summer shopping event in the US. Rivals such as Best Buy, Walmart and Target long ago developed an "anti-Prime Day" tactic: they run their own sales on exactly the same days, and often extend them beyond the end of Prime Day itself. The logic is simple: a shopper who went online looking for a deal should stay on Best Buy's pages rather than go back to Amazon.

Best Buy is betting on several competitive advantages:

• Physical stores nationwide: you can walk in, see the product and take it home today
• Free same-day or next-day delivery on some items
• The My Best Buy loyalty program with cumulative cashback
• The Geek Squad service center: installation, setup and extended warranty

The last point matters most to gaming-laptop buyers. Alienware and Legion machines carry high price tags, so being able to go to a physical service center counts.

What to check before buying

Big-sale discounts need verifying. Some retailers raise the base price beforehand so the discount looks bigger. Before buying, check price history through trackers: Honey or CamelCamelCamel show whether the price has been this low before.

The picture differs by category. Nintendo Switch 2 launched in 2025, and deep discounts on fresh platforms are rare in the first year. Expect small bundles or gift cards instead. Alienware and Lenovo Legion are a different case: ahead of autumn announcements of new configurations, retailers actively clear out last year's models, and discounts can be genuinely noticeable, from 10 to 25% off the regular price. The PS5 is also mixed: the console itself rarely gets a significant discount, but game bundles or PlayStation Plus subscriptions are sometimes offered on good terms during big sales.

What this means

Summer mega-sales are no longer Amazon's monopoly. Best Buy, Walmart and other large retailers have built a parallel ecosystem of discounts, and shoppers come out ahead: they can compare terms across several sellers at once. The Best Buy sale runs through Sunday, so anyone eyeing a Switch, a PS5 or a gaming laptop still has time.
