Salesforce has rolled out a major Slack update — 30 new features at once, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence. The company positions this as the platform's largest redesign in years, effectively transforming the enterprise messenger into an operating environment for AI agents. The flagship innovation is autonomous AI agents that operate directly within Slack.

They can answer employee questions, execute tasks, search corporate systems for information, and route requests to the right specialists — all without switching between applications. The agents are built on Agentforce, Salesforce's AI platform launched in 2025. The second key area is information handling.

Slack can now automatically summarize long threads, meeting recordings, and channels the user returns to after an absence. The "Catch Me Up" feature has undergone significant evolution: the AI doesn't just recap conversations, but also highlights tasks requiring specific user involvement. For team collaboration, AI channels have been added — spaces where agents can be full-fledged discussion participants.

Bots are no longer outside observers but participants who receive conversation context and act accordingly. Salesforce has also expanded Slack's integration with its own CRM: data on deals, clients, and tasks are now accessible directly from chat via Einstein search. The redesigned interface deserves special mention.

Salesforce has overhauled the sidebar, added personalized activity feeds, and improved the notification system — a long-standing pain point for users. The design is cleaner and navigation more intuitive. Among the 30 features are also: enhanced search with AI ranking, voice messages with auto-transcription, AI-powered workflow templates, and an expanded Workflow Builder that now understands natural language instructions.

The announcement looks strategically important for Salesforce. The company has long been trying to prove that its $27.7 billion Slack acquisition in 2021 will pay off — and now is betting that the messenger will become the primary interface for interacting with AI agents in the corporate environment.

Essentially, Salesforce is stopping selling Slack as a "place to communicate" and starting to sell it as a "place where AI works." This is a direct response to Microsoft, which is actively embedding Copilot into Teams. The competition between two ecosystems — Salesforce plus Slack versus Microsoft plus Teams — has now definitively shifted to the plane of AI agents and workflow automation.
