OpenAI launches ChatGPT course for operations teams: automating routine work and speeding up processes
OpenAI Academy has released a ChatGPT course for operations teams. It teaches how to use AI to automate routine tasks, standardize processes and speed up coordination inside a company. The target audience is operations managers who want to cut manual work and make their teams more efficient without hiring additional staff.

OpenAI Academy has published a new training module: ChatGPT for operations teams. It explains how companies already use ChatGPT to streamline workflows, improve coordination between departments, standardize procedures and speed up task execution.
Operations teams keep the business running: they plan resources, track task completion, maintain process documentation and synchronize departments. This is where a huge volume of repetitive, time-consuming work piles up, and where language models deliver the most value.
The course covers several specific use cases. ChatGPT helps draft and update standard operating procedures (SOPs): instead of writing a procedure from scratch, a manager describes the process by voice or in a rough draft, and the model structures it into a finished document with steps, owners and checkpoints. Another scenario is preparing reports and summaries for management: ChatGPT takes raw data from spreadsheets, correspondence or task databases and produces a readable report in minutes, not hours.
Coordination between teams is another pain point that AI addresses. Instead of long message threads to find out statuses, ChatGPT can generate daily updates and build meeting agendas from a description of the situation. After a meeting, it can turn notes into a structured list of decisions and next steps with owners. All of this lowers cognitive load and reduces the number of iterations before the final result.
A separate section focuses on standardization: how to achieve consistency in communications, document templates and quality criteria when a team works across different time zones or grows quickly. ChatGPT lets you lock brand voice and document structure into a prompt, and get a consistent result from any employee, regardless of their level.
The course is part of OpenAI's broader enterprise strategy. The company is steadily building educational infrastructure around ChatGPT Enterprise and Team: separate modules have already been released for marketing, sales, HR and engineering teams. The operations module addresses one of the key requests from business: to show not just what AI can do, but how exactly to build it into the daily work of a specific department.
For companies that have not yet started using ChatGPT systematically in operations, the course is a good starting point. It is free, available on the OpenAI Academy website and requires no technical background. For those already using AI in an ad hoc way, it may help structure their approach and scale it across the whole team.
