Madrid-based Singular Bank has launched Singularity, an in-house assistant built on ChatGPT and Codex, to cut the routine workload of its private bankers. According to the bank, the system saves each specialist 60 to 90 minutes a day and lets them prepare for a client meeting in less than a minute.

From preparation to conversation

Previously, analyzing a client portfolio at a private bank meant assembling the picture by hand from several systems: pulling positions, reconciling data, spotting imbalances and drawing conclusions before the meeting. The cycle repeated for almost every client and consumed a noticeable part of the working day.

Singularity changes the workflow. The banker immediately sees the key signals for a portfolio, can quickly assess concentration, elevated exposure or imbalance, and move on to discussing decisions rather than reciting numbers. The system does not just display data; it also proposes next steps: reducing concentration in individual positions, locking in profits or rebalancing the portfolio into a more resilient structure.

After the meeting, the assistant helps write a personalized follow-up message and define further actions. Because the tool is built into the bank's core systems, every result is stored in a structured form, which makes it easier for the bank to track communication history and prepare reporting.

"I used to prepare for every meeting well in advance.

Now I can analyze the portfolio in real time and focus on the conversation with the client."

Where the time goes

OpenAI and Singular Bank point to the biggest effect in repetitive tasks that used to take minutes or tens of minutes and now take seconds. The bank says it is these everyday actions that add up to total savings of up to an hour and a half per banker per day. This is not a one-off demonstration but a workflow employees use constantly.

  • Meeting preparation: about 20 minutes before, now under 1 minute
  • Call reports: 15–20 minutes before, now under 30 seconds
  • Investment arguments: 10–15 minutes before, now about 20 seconds
  • Client messages: 5–10 minutes before, now under 30 seconds

Over 30 days, bank staff ran more than 3,500 operations through Singularity, an average of about 120 a day across 19 different scenarios. That detail matters: the tool did not stay a showcase experiment but became part of the team's daily work.

The bank also notes that texts and recommendations are generated from approved data sources and through structured processes, so speed is not achieved at the expense of compliance and regulatory discipline.

Why it matters

In private banking, speed alone is not the key metric. Clients do not pay because a manager opened a spreadsheet quickly, but for the quality of advice, an understanding of risk and confidence in the next step. So what matters in the Singular Bank case is not automation for its own sake, but shifting time from back-office routine into the conversation with the client. When a banker arrives at a meeting with the picture already assembled and options ready, the consultation becomes more substantive.

Bank chief Javier Marín describes this as a move from the operational side to applied intelligence: the banker does not disappear from the process but gets a stronger tool for judgment.

This fits the current corporate AI trend: companies increasingly deploy not a universal chatbot for everything at once, but internal assistants built for a specific context, connected to work systems, with clear scenarios and a requirement that every answer be traceable.

What it means

The Singular Bank story shows ChatGPT and Codex moving beyond development and support into conservative processes such as private banking. When AI is connected to verified data and built into the rulebook, it starts saving not seconds in a demo but hours in real operational work.
