Amazon updates Bedrock AgentCore: agents get access to enterprise knowledge and monitoring

Amazon has announced new capabilities for Bedrock AgentCore, its platform for building and managing AI agents. The update focuses on connecting agents to enterprise, web and paid knowledge sources, tools for finding and fixing problems in production, and control mechanisms that scale as agents become more capable. The goal, according to AWS, is to let teams build powerful agents faster and keep improving them continuously.

Amazon Web Services has expanded Bedrock AgentCore, its enterprise platform for building, connecting and optimizing AI agents. The update addresses three key gaps that teams face when moving from prototype to production.

Knowledge from any source

One of the main problems for production agents is limited access to up-to-date data. Bedrock AgentCore now lets teams connect agents to several types of sources at once:

  • Enterprise knowledge bases (internal documents, CRM, wiki)
  • The open web, for finding current information in real time
  • Paid and licensed data sources
  • Structured organizational stores (S3, databases)

This means an agent can answer not only from what the model learned in training, but also from fresh, business-specific data, without additional fine-tuning.

Debugging in production

When an agent gets something wrong, finding the cause can be hard: multi-step reasoning chains are opaque. AgentCore adds tools that help teams track agent behavior in real time and locate points of failure.

Teams can see which step in the chain produced a wrong result, which knowledge source was used and where the agent lost context. In essence, it is an observability stack for agentic systems, comparable to tracing in microservices but applied to AI logic.

Control that grows with the agent

The more an agent can do, the harder it is to control. Amazon addresses this with built-in governance mechanisms that scale with the workload.

"We help teams build more powerful agents faster, manage them through

scalable control mechanisms, and continuously improve them," says the official AWS announcement.

Security policies, tool restrictions and data access rules are defined centrally and applied automatically, no matter how complex the chain of agents becomes.

What this means

Bedrock AgentCore is moving from an experimentation tool to a full production stack for enterprise agents. For teams already building agentic systems on AWS, this lowers the barrier to enterprise deployments and removes the need to assemble monitoring and control by hand from separate components.
