Files can be organized and searched within the interface, making it easier to locate and reuse previously uploaded materials.

Technical Specifications and Limitations

OpenAI has set specific parameters for file handling:

• General file size limit: 512 MB per file
• Spreadsheets and CSV files: ~50 MB
• Images: 20 MB

These limits ensure stable platform performance while accommodating most standard business and research documents.

Data Handling and User Control

A critical feature of the Library is user control over data usage. When uploading files, users see an option that reads "Improve the model for everyone." Users can:

• Enable data collection to contribute to model improvements
• Disable data collection to keep uploaded files private

This opt-in approach gives users transparent control over how their documents are used.

Platform Availability

The Library feature is currently available to users with the following subscription levels:

• ChatGPT Plus subscribers
• ChatGPT Pro subscribers

The feature is rolling out globally but is not available in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland due to regional data regulation requirements.

Two exceptions exist:
