AI presentation service Gamma has released a new product, Gamma Imagine, a tool that generates images and visual materials from text prompts. With it, users will be able to create branded assets directly inside the platform: interactive charts, infographics, marketing materials and illustrations for social media. The company states its goal outright: to become a full alternative to Canva and Adobe for business users who don't have professional design skills.

Gamma appeared in 2020 as an answer to a simple question: why spend hours building a presentation when you can do it in minutes? The platform offered a scheme that quickly became popular among startups, marketers and managers: you enter a topic or paste in text, and the AI builds the structure, picks a layout and fills the slides. The result arrives fast, looks decent and requires no knowledge of PowerPoint or Keynote, nor a professional designer. By 2024–2025 the service had gained tens of millions of users and strengthened its position in the AI-first documents category.

The logic of expanding into image generation is clear. When someone builds a presentation or a marketing document, they need more than structure and text: they need visuals. Previously that meant switching to Canva, Midjourney or Adobe Stock, finding a suitable image, uploading it back and fitting it into the layout by hand. Gamma Imagine removes that context switch by letting users generate the images they need directly in the workspace.

The new tool's distinguishing feature is its focus on brand consistency. Gamma Imagine takes a company's brand colors, fonts and visual style into account so that all generated assets look like a single system of materials rather than scattered pictures from different sources. That promise, not "generate something pretty" but "generate your own, in your style", makes the product interesting for corporate audiences that watch brand identity closely.

Competition will be tough. Canva, valued at more than $40 billion and equipped with its Magic Studio AI tools, has been investing in visual generation for business for several years. The company trained its own models on licensed, clean data and skillfully built them into a familiar interface used by hundreds of millions of people. Adobe promotes Firefly, a generative engine integrated into Photoshop, Illustrator and all of Creative Cloud. For professional designers, changing ecosystems is a serious step, and Adobe knows well how to retain its audience.

But Gamma is aiming at a different segment. Its audience is not designers but managers, analysts, marketers and startup founders who need decent visual materials quickly and without design skills. Canva is already strong in this segment, but Gamma is betting on deeper integration of generation into the context of a specific document. The user doesn't open a separate app. They say "I need an infographic with quarterly sales growth," and the tool creates it right in the context of an existing slide or page.

The launch of Gamma Imagine is one more sign of a broader trend: AI tools for working with content are converging and absorbing the functions of neighboring categories. Presentation platforms are growing image generation. Design tools are learning to write copy. Video editors are plugging in AI voices. In this race, the services that survive will be those that build the most seamless workflow from idea to finished material, while keeping the quality of each component high enough that users don't want to leave the one tool.
