Anthropic's Claude Becomes the Main Talking Point at HumanX in San Francisco
At the HumanX AI conference in San Francisco, Anthropic ended up at the center of attention in an unexpected way: Claude was the top subject of conversation among developers, investors and startup founders. Attendees called it their default model and the best agentic API on the market. It is a significant signal. A company that began as an AI safety project has become the main tool of the entire practitioner side of the industry.

The HumanX conference, which brought AI industry leaders together in San Francisco in April 2026, will be remembered for one thing: the name Claude was everywhere. Anthropic, which only a few years ago was seen primarily as an "AI safety company," became the star of the event, outpacing even OpenAI and Google in mentions and attention.
HumanX positions itself as a venue for people building real businesses on AI: startup founders, chief technology officers at large corporations, venture investors. It is not an academic conference or a marketing showcase; the talk here is about what actually works in production. The format filters out hype and leaves practitioners. That is exactly why Claude's dominance was such a telling signal for the whole industry.
According to attendees, Claude came up again and again, in official sessions and in hallway conversations alike. Developers praised the quality of the code it generates. Product managers noted that Claude holds context better in long multi-turn dialogues. Investors discussed how Anthropic managed to monetize its position as the "responsible" player without sacrificing commercial results. Several attendees singled out the agentic capabilities: the new APIs make it possible to build autonomous pipelines that run more reliably than those of competitors.
Anthropic has been expanding its product presence aggressively in recent months. Claude 3.7 Sonnet, released in early 2026, gained an extended deep-reasoning mode and quickly earned a reputation as best in class for programming tasks. It was followed by Claude Opus 4.6, aimed at complex multi-step tasks with a context window of one million tokens. At the same time, the company released a mature Agent SDK, something the industry has been waiting for from every vendor but received from Anthropic among the first in a genuinely working form.
At HumanX you could feel it physically. Booth demos, case-study presentations, hallway talk: Claude featured everywhere. Several speakers openly called it the "default model" for their teams, explaining the choice by a combination of reliability, instruction-following quality and API transparency. One attendee put it briefly: "OpenAI gives power, Google gives integrations, Anthropic gives trust."
Trust is the key word for understanding Anthropic's trajectory. From the start, the company bet on safety and transparency, publishing detailed reports on training and model behavior. For a long time this was seen as PR positioning or academic caution. Now that enterprise customers are seriously thinking about regulatory compliance and auditability of AI systems, that bet is starting to convert into a real competitive advantage.
Anthropic's presence at HumanX was no accident. The company is deliberately investing in developer relations and enterprise sales: last year it opened several regional offices, grew its customer-facing team and launched a certification program for partners. HumanX is exactly the audience Anthropic wants to convince: people making decisions about their technology stack for the next several years.
For the industry, the conference's outcome means one thing: the race to be developers' favorite model is far from over, and Claude currently holds a genuine winner's narrative. At least in the eyes of the part of the market that builds serious products and pays real money for them. How durable this advantage is will be shown by the next round of releases from all the players.
