Claude Takes Over Slack and Figma: Anthropic Is Building a "Super App"

Anthropic is expanding what its MCP protocol can do. Claude is no longer just a chatbot but an interface for running your work tools. You can edit designs in Figma or send messages in Slack without leaving the AI window. While others talk about agents, Anthropic is quietly building infrastructure that makes AI the central hub of the whole software ecosystem. It is a big step toward turning Claude into a full operating system for work, where the model takes over the routine of dealing with different services.

Remember the feeling of having forty tabs open while you frantically copy a summary from Claude into Slack and try to fix a layout in Figma at the same time? For years we lived in this copy-paste purgatory, waiting for AI agents to finally do something useful. Anthropic seems to have decided it has fed us enough promises. It didn't just give Claude "eyes" or "ears". It gave it hands that can now reach into your work tools and tidy things up.

The secret behind the trick is MCP, the Model Context Protocol. When Anthropic launched this open protocol some time ago, it looked like a toy for developers. Today's update puts everything in place: the company wants to make Claude a universal remote control for your digital life. Instead of waiting for every software developer to deign to write a plugin for the model, Anthropic built a bridge that any service can cross. The heavyweights went first: Slack, Figma, Canva and Asana.

It is important to understand that these are not "integrations" in the old sense, where a bot could only read a file. These are interactive apps living inside the chat. You can draft a message to colleagues, format it and send it to the right Slack channel without ever seeing that famous purple interface. You can make changes to a Canva design or check tasks in Asana without leaving the conversation window. It sounds like a small convenience, but in practice it is a tectonic shift in how we use software at all.

For a long time we discussed AI agents as some futuristic thing that would book our flights. Reality turned out to be more prosaic and more useful: agents are simply programs that can talk efficiently to other programs. Anthropic realized that winning the war against OpenAI and Google does not require the highest benchmark scores. It requires becoming the most convenient tool in the daily workflow. While OpenAI tries to build its closed GPTs store, Anthropic is betting on open infrastructure. It is the classic platform play: don't build the apps yourself, build the foundation they run on.

There is some irony here. Slack was once promoted as the "email killer" that would centralize all communication. Now Slack itself is becoming a background service that a chatbot talks to. We are entering the era of "headless" software, where the interface of the original app matters less than its API and how deftly an LLM can navigate it. If Claude becomes the place where your workday begins and ends, Anthropic wins, regardless of whose model is slightly better at math problems this week.

Of course, questions about security and privacy remain. Handing a chatbot the keys to your Figma designs and Slack conversations is a serious step that requires trust. Anthropic is betting that the productivity gain will outweigh the concerns. Considering how much time we spend bouncing between windows, they may well be right. The dream of the "super app" isn't dead. It just doesn't look like WeChat, but like a blinking cursor in a chat window that knows more about your work than you do.

The bottom line: Anthropic is turning Claude into a full interface for all your work. If the experiment succeeds, we may soon not need to open a browser at all, since a single chat window will be enough. Are you ready to trust a model with the keys to all your work accounts?
