OpenClaw: The AI Agent That Lives Your Life (and Spends Your Money)
The OpenClaw project (formerly Moltbot) is storming social media with a promise to be "the AI that actually does things." Unlike ordinary chatbots, this agent plugs into WhatsApp and Telegram to manage your email, trade on the stock market and even simulate care for loved ones by sending messages on your behalf. While users enjoy total automation, security experts are alarmed. The core problem is excessive autonomy: the bot requires minimal oversight, which turns any hallucination by the neural network into a potential disaster for your wallet or your reputation. This is a new stage in the development of AI agents, where convenience goes hand in hand with a complete loss of control. *Meta has been designated an extremist organization and is banned in Russia.

Imagine waking up in the morning to find that your investment portfolio has already been rebalanced, your inbox is empty, and your spouse has received a tender message wishing them a good day. All of this happened without your involvement. It sounds like a dream for anyone overloaded with tasks, but this is exactly where OpenClaw begins: a project that calls itself "the AI that actually gets things done." While we were getting used to chatbots that simply write fluent text, the industry made a sharp turn toward agents. Now AI doesn't just advise, it executes.
The story of OpenClaw reads like a spy novel with a legal subtext. The project was first called Clawdbot, but lawyers at Anthropic quickly and politely hinted that this was too similar to their Claude. It then became Moltbot, and now we have OpenClaw. The shuffle of names only highlights the rush and the gray legal area in which next-generation tools are being born. The developers are betting that users are tired of copying text from ChatGPT into other apps. They want AI to live where they live: in messengers such as WhatsApp or Telegram.
The essence of OpenClaw is simple and frighteningly effective. It is not just an interface but a layer on top of powerful language models, with access to your APIs, email and financial tools. You give a command in chat, and the bot goes and carries it out in the real world. The problem is that modern AI is still prone to hallucinations. It is one thing when ChatGPT gets Napoleon's birth date wrong, and quite another when an agent mistakenly decides that "sell everything" is a great strategy for your retirement account on a Friday evening.
Cybersecurity experts are already sounding the alarm. The main risk here is not even malicious intent on the part of the creators, but the very concept of "minimal human involvement." When we delegate decision-making to AI, we remove the very safeguard that separates a minor technical error from a financial collapse. If the agent misinterprets the context of your WhatsApp message, it may send confidential documents to the wrong recipient or make a trade you never planned. And proving afterward that "it wasn't me, it was the bot" will be almost impossible legally.
Nevertheless, OpenClaw's virality proves that the demand for autonomy is huge. We have reached a point of digital obesity, where the volume of incoming signals exceeds our capacity to process them. In this situation, people are ready to risk a lot to shift responsibility onto an algorithm. We are entering an era in which AI agents will become our digital twins, acting on our behalf. The only question is how long the leash we keep them on will be.
Bottom line: Are you ready to take responsibility for actions your AI agent took while you slept? The legal system seems to need to prepare an answer to that question.
