Devin Gets Native Teams Integration and Six Microsoft 365 MCP Servers

Cognition has released a Devin update for the Microsoft ecosystem. You can @-mention the agent in Teams, message it in direct and group chats, and trigger automations from channels. Instead of long blocks of text, Devin sends cards for questions, approvals and MCP server authorization. The update also adds six Microsoft 365 MCP servers: mail and contacts, calendar, OneDrive and SharePoint, To Do, Teams, and the Entra ID directory. Cognition hosts and maintains the servers. Permissions are delegated, acting on behalf of the user, and the minimum on each server is read-only. Everything is available to all Devin customers. • Devin works in Teams DMs, group chats and channels • Six Microsoft 365 MCP servers in the MCP Marketplace • Delegated permissions only, write access can be turned off

Cognition has released a major Devin update for teams that live in the Microsoft ecosystem. You can now @-mention the agent in Teams and message it in a direct or group chat. You can also connect it to Microsoft 365 mail, calendar, files, tasks and the corporate directory through six MCP servers. The release is available to all Devin customers. The company's argument is simple: more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies use Teams, and that is where bug reports and product specs originate. The agent shows up where the context already lives.

What changed in Teams

Devin has been available in Teams channels since last year. Now you can message it directly or add it to a group chat. It starts a session and replies right in the conversation, as in the Devin web app: you can clarify, come back to the task, and push back.

The second addition is automations from channels. Devin listens to a channel and picks up work on its own when a message arrives: a bug report, an alert or a colleague's request. Nobody has to create a task manually.

The third is cards. When the agent needs an answer, it sends a card instead of a wall of text. With one click, you can answer a clarifying question, approve an action or authorize an MCP server. The update also adds some smaller touches: Devin can mention people, attach files and disable itself in a specific chat.

Six Microsoft 365 connectors

A separate part of the release is the first third-party integration with Microsoft 365. Cognition built and hosts the servers itself, and you can connect them in the MCP Marketplace inside Devin:

  • Mail & Contacts: read, sort and send emails in Outlook, and manage contacts.
  • Calendar: view, create, edit and delete events.
  • OneDrive & SharePoint: browse, read and upload files, including those shared via link.
  • Microsoft To Do: list, create, update and complete tasks.
  • Microsoft Teams: list teams, channels and chats, and send messages on behalf of the user. This connector is separate from the Teams app.
  • Directory (Entra ID): look up people, their managers and your own profile.

Example tasks from the announcement: read a design doc in SharePoint and the email thread about the billing migration, then open a PR for the first phase. Or schedule a review for Thursday and add a follow-up to To Do. For a developer, this is the kind of context-gathering that usually eats half a day of tab-switching.

Permissions

For integrations that reach into email and files, the main question is security. Devin acts on behalf of the signed-in user and sees only what that user can access.

According to Cognition, installing the Teams app does not grant access to email, files or calendars. The updated app requests no new permissions compared with the current one. Access to messages goes through resource-specific consent and is limited to the teams and chats where Devin is installed. Uninstalling the app revokes access.

The Microsoft 365 MCP servers use only delegated, user-level permissions; there are no application-level permissions. Each of the six connections has its own consent screen. The minimum is read-only, write access is enabled separately, and you can uncheck the box when connecting. In tenants that restrict user consent, admin approval will be required, and several broad directory permissions always require an admin. An administrator can choose Cognition's MCP server or connect their own Entra app.

How to connect and what to check

For Teams, install Devin AI from the Microsoft Marketplace and connect it in Settings > Connections. Setup requires both a Teams administrator and a Devin administrator, after which each user links their own account once. To message Devin in direct chats, each person has to install the app from the Teams store themselves: an administrator installing it for a team does not cover direct chats.

For Microsoft 365, just open the MCP Marketplace in Devin and pick the servers you need. A practical tip for teams: start with read-only and enable write access one connector at a time. Test channel automations on a quiet channel with low-severity alerts. Decide in advance whether you want Cognition's hosting or your own Entra app, since that affects how the review goes with your security team.
