Boston Children's Hospital and MIT, with support from DeepMind, have started a large-scale research project to develop RNA therapy for ALS — amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The scientists combined the complementary biological approaches of both labs to create a new treatment method for this rare but fatal neurodegenerative disease. The project's main goal is to slow or completely stop the progressive degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brain in patients with ALS.
