KPMG, one of the world's largest consulting firms, has announced a strategic alliance with Anthropic. The company is embedding Claude into the core of its business — the Digital Gateway platform, where clients and all 276 thousand employees of the firm work.
Why KPMG needs this
KPMG operates in sectors where precision and reliability are critical: audit, taxes, legal consulting, risk management. The embedded Claude helps scale expertise and reduces the time for executing tasks that previously required weeks of coordination between teams. The partnership reflects KPMG's two-year experience with Claude in its AI and Data Labs in the US.
"This is one of the most important projects we will be doing," —
Tim Walsh, head of KPMG US.
How Digital Gateway works
Digital Gateway is a platform where KPMG's tax expertise, proprietary tools, and client data live. It's the central place where employees and clients build workflows. It has Claude Cowork and Managed Agents embedded in it — tools for quickly creating AI solutions without switching between windows and applications. Previously, creating an AI agent to help clients adapt to changes in tax regulation required weeks and coordination between multiple teams. Now it takes minutes.
- Tax consulting and adaptation to regulatory changes
- Finding and fixing vulnerabilities in critical systems
- Analytics for PE firm portfolio companies
- Help filling out complex forms and documents
- Internal tools for all 276 thousand employees
Cybersecurity and trust
KPMG applies the same standard of control and accountability to AI as it does to its core business. KPMG and Anthropic teams use Claude to find and fix vulnerabilities in critical systems, guided by the Trusted AI Framework — a set of KPMG principles for reliable AI deployment. Daniela Amodei, Anthropic co-founder: "KPMG operates in sectors where precision and accountability are not optional. They deploy Claude for 276 thousand people and use it in client projects in taxes and private capital. They are introducing it into cybersecurity. This is what a firm's commitment to AI looks like."
What this means
The alliance signals a transition by large service companies from pilots to large-scale integration of AI into production operations. For Anthropic, this is a landmark partnership — the trust of a Tier 1 global consulting firm in the context of strict regulation and risk management. It means that large organizations are ready to embed Claude directly in critical client workflows.
