DeepMind developed Co-Scientist — an AI system for identifying the genetic causes of new infectious diseases. The tool analyzes genomic data from viruses and pathogenic bacteria, formulates scientific hypotheses about the molecular mechanisms of infection, and helps scientists test them in real laboratories. This makes it possible to identify vulnerable points in pathogens much faster and develop new vaccines, antiviral drugs, and diagnostic methods.
