Google expands SynthID: invisible labeling for AI content becomes standard

Google is significantly expanding SynthID — invisible labeling for AI content that is automatically added when images, video, and audio are generated in Gemini and other Google AI services. The technology will allow people and platforms to verify content authenticity. It is an attempt to stop the influx of deepfakes, such as the viral manipulated images of Pope Francis in expensive sneakers that fooled millions.
