ArXiv to ban authors for a year over papers with 'AI slop' and fabricated references

ArXiv is introducing tough sanctions against researchers who submit papers with clear signs of unreviewed LLM-generated content. If the platform spots hallucinated references, model meta-comments, or other signs of raw AI text, the author may be banned for a year. After such a violation, new submissions, according to platform representatives, may require the paper to be accepted by a peer-reviewed journal or conference.
