Adobe has launched a public beta test of Firefly Custom Models — a tool that allows brands and creators to train generative image models on their own materials. The concept is straightforward: you upload your work — illustrations, photographs, characters, brand visuals — and the model learns to reproduce exactly that style and aesthetic. The result: a generator tuned to a specific visual language, rather than a universal model that requires extensive prompt engineering.

Adobe positions the tool primarily for teams working with large volumes of content. Instead of starting from scratch each time, they get a reusable foundation — a model trained on approved internal assets. This is especially important for maintaining brand consistency: marketing teams, publishers, and agencies with regular clients get a tool that automatically preserves visual consistency across projects.

Custom Models cover three main directions: characters, illustrations, and photography. That is, the tool targets both animation and game studios, for whom accuracy in reproducing specific characters is important, and brands that need photorealistic generation in a recognizable style. Unlike universal Firefly, Custom Models is a data-closed system.

Adobe has repeatedly emphasized that Firefly was trained only on licensed materials from Adobe Stock and public domain content. In the case of custom models, the user provides the data, which eliminates questions about copyright on output content. The launch into public beta means the tool is available without queue wait — you only need a corresponding Creative Cloud subscription.

Adobe promises to expand capabilities as it works through feedback. For the market, this is a signal: customization of generative models for brand needs is transitioning from the category of "niche development" to a standard product tool. Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and others already have fine-tuning options, but Adobe is betting on simplicity and legal clarity — exactly what corporate clients lack.
