Adobe has introduced a new Firefly-based AI assistant capable of independently executing tasks in Creative Cloud applications without manual control of each step. The assistant operates as an agent: it receives a task from the user and independently determines which tools and applications to engage. The list of supported applications includes Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Illustrator, Express, and Firefly itself.

This means that a single instruction can trigger a chain of actions across multiple applications simultaneously. For example, a user can ask to prepare an image for publication — and the assistant will independently open Photoshop for retouching, transfer the file to Express for format adaptation, and save the result. The entire process, which previously required switching between windows and manual operations, is now automated.

Adobe is moving in the direction of agentic AI — where a program not only answers questions but takes on multi-step workflows. This is a fundamentally different level of integration compared to previous content generation features in Firefly. For creative professionals, this could mean significant acceleration of routine tasks: batch image processing, preparing materials in different formats, editing corrections.

The question is how reliably the assistant handles non-standard requests and how it processes errors at intermediate steps. Adobe has not yet disclosed details about feature availability and pricing policy. Judging by current information, the capability will likely be integrated into the existing Creative Cloud subscription, although details will be clarified later.

The launch of an agent assistant signals that Adobe is seriously positioning itself as an AI platform for professionals, rather than simply a collection of tools with AI features.
