OpenAI Academy has published a new training module — ChatGPT for operations teams. It explains how companies are already using ChatGPT to optimize workflows, improve coordination between departments, standardize regulations, and accelerate task execution. Operations teams are those who keep the business running: they plan resources, control task execution, maintain process documentation, synchronize departments.

It is at this level that a huge volume of repetitive, time-consuming work is concentrated — and it is precisely here that language models provide the greatest payoff. The course covers several specific use case scenarios. ChatGPT helps draft and update standard operating procedures (SOP): instead of writing a regulation from scratch, a manager describes the process by voice or rough text, and the model structures it into a ready document with steps, responsible parties, and checkpoints.

Another scenario is preparing reports and summaries for management: ChatGPT takes raw data from spreadsheets, correspondence, or task databases and generates a readable report in minutes, not hours. Coordination between teams is another pain point that AI addresses. Instead of lengthy exchanges clarifying statuses, ChatGPT can generate daily updates, form meeting agendas based on situation descriptions, and after meetings — turn notes into a structured list of decisions and next steps with owners.

All of this reduces cognitive load and decreases the number of iterations to a final result. A separate section covers standardization: how to achieve uniformity in communications, document templates, and quality criteria when a team works in different time zones or is growing rapidly. ChatGPT allows you to consolidate brand voice and document structure in a prompt — and get consistent results from any employee, regardless of their level.

The release of this course is part of OpenAI's broader strategy for the corporate market. The company is consistently building an educational infrastructure around ChatGPT Enterprise and Team: separate modules have already been released for marketing, sales, HR, and engineering teams. The operations block addresses one of the key requests from business — to show not just what AI can do, but how exactly to integrate it into the daily work of a specific department.

For companies that have not yet begun systematically using ChatGPT in operational activities, the course is a good starting point. It is free, available on the OpenAI Academy website, and does not require technical training. For those already using AI in isolated cases, it can help structure the approach and scale it across the entire team.
