In the world of artificial intelligence, there is an ongoing search for the ideal architecture to create truly autonomous and intelligent agents. Traditional approaches, such as ReAct and CoT (Chain-of-Thought), rely on rigidly defined pipelines that determine the sequence of agent actions. However, a new approach proposes looking at this problem from a different angle, presenting the concept of "subject" AI agents, where an LLM (Large Language Model) acts not as a controller, but as a tool used by the agent consciously and purposefully.

The essence of this approach lies in the fact that the agent analyzes its internal state – needs, goals, available resources – and based on this assessment, makes a decision about when and how to consult the LLM. This resembles how people use search engines or consult experts for advice: we don't simply blindly follow instructions, but consciously seek information necessary to solve a specific task. The mechanics of "deliberate query" to an LLM allows the agent to be more flexible and adaptive to changing conditions.

Unlike rigid pipelines, where each agent action is predetermined, the subject approach gives the agent freedom of choice. It can independently decide what information it needs to obtain, what questions to ask the LLM, and how to use the results. This opens new possibilities for creating more complex and intelligent agents capable of solving a wide range of tasks in various domains.

Implementation of this concept requires the development of new algorithms and architectures that allow the agent to effectively evaluate its internal state and make informed decisions. An important aspect is also the development of mechanisms that ensure the safety and reliability of such agents, to exclude the possibility of abuse or unintended consequences.

The introduction of subject AI agents can have a significant impact on various industries. In robotics, it will allow the creation of more autonomous and adaptive robots capable of working in complex and unpredictable conditions. In customer service, it will lead to more intelligent and empathetic virtual assistants capable of solving customer problems more effectively. In medicine, it can contribute to the development of new methods for disease diagnosis and treatment.

However, the development of subject AI agents also raises a number of ethical questions for us. It is necessary to develop clear rules and standards regulating the use of such agents to ensure their safety and prevent the possibility of abuse. It is also important to consider the potential impact of these technologies on the labor market and take measures to mitigate negative consequences.

The concept of subject AI agents represents an important step forward in the development of artificial intelligence. The transition from rigid pipelines to more flexible and adaptive architectures will allow the creation of more intelligent and autonomous systems capable of solving a wide range of tasks in various domains. However, we must remember the potential risks and ethical issues associated with the development of these technologies and take measures to ensure their safe and responsible use.
