iOS 27: Siri to Get ChatGPT-Style Chat Interface and Dynamic Island Breakout

Siri in iOS 27 will receive the most significant redesign in Apple's assistant history. Bloomberg renders show exactly how the new interface, design, and entire user interaction logic will look. Apple plans to present the final version at the WWDC conference in June 2026.

New Siri Capsule from Dynamic Island

The most notable change is that the assistant will now be invoked as a new pill-shaped bubble that pops out directly from the Dynamic Island. This means Siri is transitioning from the old full-screen dialog window to a modern chat interface similar to the one used by ChatGPT from OpenAI. This interaction format is more convenient for long conversations and more familiar to users accustomed to modern chat assistants.

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the capsule will contain a dropdown menu with three options: Ask, Siri, and ChatGPT. This will allow users to quickly choose which tool is best for the current task. For example, for simple information searches you can select Ask mode, for device control — Siri, and for complex questions — ChatGPT.

The new Siri design includes a Liquid Glass element, which has become a signature feature of Apple in recent iOS versions. This will give the interface a modern, glass-like appearance that will differ from the current design of the old Siri.

What Will Change in the Interface

In addition to visual redesign, Siri will receive several significant functional improvements that should make the assistant more powerful and convenient to use:

Bloomberg obtained information about the new interface from company sources who have access to development plans and are familiar with internal discussions. According to the information, the company plans to reveal all changes at the WWDC conference in June 2026.

Mark Gurman, the author of the Bloomberg article, notes that the published renders are based on reliable information, but the final design that Apple presents on stage may differ. Changes could range from minor cosmetic adjustments to more significant changes in interaction logic.

"The renders show a possible version, but the final result may differ,"

Gurman explains.

The integration of ChatGPT into Siri signals that Apple no longer views its assistant as a direct competitor to OpenAI. Instead, the company is choosing a complementary strategy — offering users the best tool for each specific task. The shift to a chat interface is Apple's adaptation to the fact that users are already accustomed to ChatGPT and expect this exact interaction format. Currently, Siri's interface looks outdated compared to chat assistants.
