European scientists developed a millimeter-wave radar system that distinguishes bee, wasp, and other pollinator species by micro-Doppler signatures of wing flaps. The system achieves 85% accuracy in species identification by analyzing more than 70 signal characteristics. The main advantage is complete non-invasiveness. The technology can help monitor populations and track invasive species.
